If the two groups can’t reach an agreement then bus drivers, mechanics, and other transit workers will be in a legal strike position as of 12:01 am on Thursday.
The city remains confident that a deal will be reached before a total shutdown of Hamilton’s bus services. While on the union’s website, a popup notice urges Hamiltonians to speak to their local councillors.
If the HSR service is suspended due to job action, the city are telling residents to begin planning different ways to get around the city.
In a press release they suggested transit customers should consider carpooling with neighbours or coworkers, walking, cycling, or working from home.
The city also says that any details regarding a labour disruption will be shared before the bus services are shutdown. Updates will be shared on the city’s website.
