Hamilton residents are now able to pay for COVID-19 rapid screenings at Shoppers Drug Mart locations all over the city.
Loblaw Companies – the parent corporation of Shoppers Drug Mart – announced this week that the drug store chain would start selling rapid antigen tests at locations across Ontario and Alberta.

These tests provide results within 15 to 20 minutes, and are available for individuals who are asymptomatic and haven’t knowingly come into contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19.
“To get through this pandemic, we all need to follow public health guidelines, get vaccinated, and continue testing and screening in order to stop the spread of COVID-19,” said Ashesh Desai, Executive Vice President, Pharmacy and Healthcare for Shoppers Drug Mart.
“As Ontario and Alberta begin their recovery from this third wave of COVID-19, rapid screening options can provide customers with an extra level of confidence.”
Rapid tests of this nature are intended to complement public health’s COVID-19 testing, which typically requires individuals to be experiencing symptoms or have been in knowing contact with a positive COVID-19 case in order to qualify for a test.
Hamilton residents can make an appointment at any Shoppers Drug Mart location in Hamilton to receive a COVID-19 rapid test. Notably, there’s a price tag attached: individuals will be paying $40 per test.
