Smile cookies are coming back at Tim Hortons

Giant Canadian coffee chain Tim Hortons is bringing back one of its happiest annual traditions. 

Smile cookies are returning to Tim Hortons for one week only from May 1st to 7th, 2023 for the initiative’s 27th year in a row.

The cookies – characterized by the smiley face drawn on them in pink and blue icing – are part of a charity initiative that gives local Tim Hortons locations the opportunity to donate 100 per cent of the smile cookie proceeds to charities, hospitals, and community programs in the area. 

2022 was a record-breaking year for Smile Cookie Week, with over $15 million in cookies sold and donated back to charitable causes. 

The smile cookie initiative was originally launched at a Tim Hortons here in Hamilton in 1996 in an effort to raise funds for the Hamilton Children’s Hospital. 

Today, Tim Hortons locations in Hamilton will be donating smile cookie proceeds to Hamilton Food Share and Food4Kids Hamilton: two valuable organizations helping to combat food insecurity. 

Smile Cookie Week kicks off at Tim Hortons locations across Canada from May 1st to 7th, 2023.
