Smoke ‘n Candy BBQ Co. has closed its restaurant, focusing on food truck

One of Hamilton’s prime spots for Southern barbeque has closed up its storefront restaurant with plans to head in new directions.

Smoke ‘n Candy BBQ Co., formerly known as The Fizz Sodas + Sandwiches, is an immensely popular lunch spot in the International Village that specializes in handcrafted sodas paired with Southern-style sandwiches, topped with smoked meats, slaws, and sauces; all made in-house and all delicious.

After rebranding as Smoke ‘n Candy, the menu expanded beyond sandwiches to include sizeably portioned barbeque platters as well.

In spite of doing bustling business in their King Street East storefront, Smoke ‘n Candy owners Trevor and Amanda Hunt are changing things up by vacating their brick & mortar digs in order to take a more nomadic approach, with focus on catering ventures and expanding the reach of their spinoff food truck.

Smoke ‘n Candy’s storefront at 217 King Street East has been officially closed as of February 1st, as plans to shift the company’s focus get underway.

Though the loss of the reliable lunchtime spot may disappoint some Hamilton foodies, it appears that Smoke ‘n Candy intends to hit the ground running, with catering engagements in the community already announced including Soupfest 2020 on February 11th and the I Heart Beer & Taco Fest on February 29th.

Get out there and show ‘em some love, Hamilton!
