One clever driver tried to use an old parking ticket from Toronto as a decoy to avoid further fines while parking illegally in Hamilton.
Parking Control Officer for the City of Hamilton A. Griese posted a photo to Twitter on Thursday night showing a yellow notice of a parking violation from the City of Toronto that was dated from February 5th.
Good evening #HamOnt A heads up if you think you're being cleaver. placing a ticket from a diff location/day or even another municipality will NOT get you a free pass. If anything it makes us want to take a closer look @ParkingTPS I found something that belongs to you pic.twitter.com/oGszw1TpMi

The officer said in his tweet that placing a ticket from a different municipality on your windshield will not get you a pass.
Commenters on the post explained that it is a situation that they see quite often despite it being a clever attempt to avoid more fines.
Hamilton is a tapestry of city and residential streets with parking requirements changing depending on where you are in the city.
According to the City of Hamilton website, drivers can park on streets wherever it is permitted. Post signs indicate any restrictions there may be for that area.
However, unrestricted areas are still subject to any and all by-laws that might not be posted such as no overnight parking on through streets, intersection and crosswalk clearances, and 12 hour parking limits.
Residents can register any bylaw complaints, including parking complaints, on the city website. Parking Officer Griese is also quite active on Twitter with information about where and how to make parking complaints.
