Starbucks announced they will be closing up to 300 coffee shops across Canada as part of an accelerated plan to match the changes in consumer habits during the COVID-19 pandemic.
It’s currently unclear if this will affect any locations in the Hamilton area, but we should find out soon as the Seattle-based coffee giant is set close each of their selected locations by the end of March.
#Starbucks says its plan to close up to 300 coffee shops across Canada will be complete by the end of March. What more are we going to see in this #pandemic and how many more businesses are going to get closed. Shocking!#Coffee, #COVID19Ontario

The company said in a statement that some locations closed in the fall of 2020 and expects to complete its planned store closures by the end of the second quarter.
Currently, there are more than 20 Starbucks coffee shops around the Hamilton area as part of the approximately 1,400 locations nationwide.
Many of the closures are signs of the company looking to restructure some stores including adding new drive-thru locations, the expansion of delivery, and a pilot of curbside pick-ups.
Starbucks began experimenting with pickup-only locations before the pandemic with the first Canadian store using the new format launched in Toronto’s financial district last year.
The first drive-thru only location will open this month in Abbotsford, British Columba.
