In January, we reported sight of 20 superchargers being installed in the Lime Ridge Mall parking lot.
According to happy Tesla owners, the superchargers lit up over the Easter weekend and are now ready for use!
Located near Hudson’s Bay, the stations are free to Tesla Model S and X drivers provided they use under 400 kWh (roughly 1,000 miles) annually otherwise “a small fee applies”.
Tesla Model 3 drivers do not receive these annual Supercharger credits and can expect a small fee to Supercharge each time.
While Tesla offered other manufacturers the possibility of using their Supercharger network, it appears that none have accepted. Thus, the Superchargers can only be used by Tesla drivers — not any electric vehicle.
The purpose of the Supercharger network is to allow for long-distance travel without ever running out of fuel. Being located off the Lincoln Alexander Parkway by Limeridge Mall is a pretty good location for drivers going through the Hamilton Mountain but remains difficult to reach for downtown drivers or those on the QEW.
Hundreds of new Supercharger locations are slated for completion by the end of 2018. The desire to own a Tesla in Hamilton has never been stronger!
