The COVID-19 curve is starting to flatten in Canada

A report from Global News featuring aggregated data from all of Canada’s provinces shows that the curve may finally be starting to flatten for the country as a whole.

The data is being represented in a graph on the Global News website, which shows the growth trends for positive COVID-19 cases in each province, beginning with the day each province individually saw its 100th confirmed case. The interactive graph is being updated on a regular basis to reflect changes in each province as the new data becomes available.

As the graph shows, most provinces’ lines are beginning to trend slightly downwards, indicating that the rate of spread of COVID-19 is generally starting to slow; particularly compared to the potentially rapid spread that could have occurred without the current preventative measures in place.

Public health experts are reacting positively to the data, who express that while the nationwide trends don’t necessarily indicate any quick end to this pandemic, they do indicate that the increase in cases is beginning to slow and that Canada is overall headed in the right direction, buying time for the healthcare system to prepare and cope with forthcoming influxes of patients.

Canadians are encouraged to continue doing their part in helping to flatten the curve, including staying home except for essential trips, practicing social distancing with people outside of your household, and washing your hands frequently with soap and water.
