The Duchess Tea Room has temporarily closed, changing ownership

A popular Hamilton tea room is about to undergo some considerable changes.

The Duchess Tea Room, a Stoney Creek staple serving up high tea in its inviting, classy setting, has been open and in operation since early 2018. However, due to health reasons, the original mother-daughter owners Julie Boyce and Ashley Paulino have sadly had to give up the business they’ve built; one so close to their hearts.

In a heartfelt and bittersweet farewell posting on social media, Boyce and Paulino express how much the Tea Room and its local regulars have meant to them. “We have loved every single of creating what we have at the Duchess Tea Room and we thank you all for your amazing love and support.”

Fortunately, this turn of events does not mean the end for The Duchess. The original owners have turned the Tea Room over to two brand new owners who will take the reins on the business and keep it going in Stoney Creek for, hopefully, many fulfilling years to come.

While the Duchess Tea Room has temporarily closed through much of January while in transition, they will reopen for an open house on Saturday February 1st from 12 pm to 2 pm: a chance to meet the new ownership as they prepare to keep The Duchess alive, and to formally say goodbye to Paulino and Boyce as they move on to a new chapter.
