Each year, the Hamilton Arts Council acknowledges published books of literary excellence written by authors residing in Hamilton. Prizes are awards in the categories of Poetry, Non-Fiction, Fiction, and the Kerry Schooley Award for the most evocative new book in Hamilton.
Nominees in the Poetry category include Darrell Epp for Sinner’s Dance, Julie McIsaac for We Like Feelings. We Are Serious., and Linda Frank for Decided.
The Non-Fiction category nominees are Sky Gilbert for small things, Stefan W. C Gnys for FIRST KILLS: The Illustrated Biography of Fighter Pilot Wladyslaw Gnys and John Terpstra for Daylighting Chedoke.
Fiction nominees include Sylvia McNicoll for Body Swap, Anna Chatterton for her play Quiver and Margaret Lindsey Holton for Trillium.
The Kerry Schooley Award nominees are John Terpstra for Daylighting Chedoke, Liz Harmer for The Amateurs and Scott Thornley for Vantage Point. This year’s winners will be announced at a gala event with MC Jeff Goodes of CBC Radio.
The Hamilton Literary Awards take place on Monday, December 9th at the Norman and Louise Haac Studio Theatre at Theatre Aquarius. Seats can be reserved here.
