Auchmar Mansion will offer guided interior tours for the first time ever

Hamilton history hounds will be happy as heck: the legendary Auchmar Estate Mansion will be opening its doors to exclusive guided tours for the very first time in 2020.

While this “Dundurn Castle of the Mountain” has been open to the public before during Doors Open events for locals to wander around, the string of upcoming tours will be a proper, in-depth walkthrough of the estate and the history it carries.

Originally commissioned and built for Hamilton icon Isaac Buchanan in the 19th century, Auchmar’s stunning external façade has been admired by Hamiltonians ever since its construction between 1852 and 1855. The building, located near Mohawk College at the corner of Fennel and West 5th on the Hamilton Mountain, has mostly been inaccessible to the general public except for rare instances.

Until now! For one initial day, May 29th of 2020, Auchmar Mansion will be tossing open its doors for three exclusive guided tours led by Auchmar’s resident historical researcher, Leanne Pluthero. Each 2-hour tour will allow small groups of Hamiltonians the chance to see Auchmar’s interior up close and personally, accompanied by the fascinating historical facts the tour has to offer.

Tickets for this rare opportunity are exceedingly limited, and once it sells out there are no current dates announced yet for future tours (though, hopefully more will be forthcoming as a result of the massive advance buzz). Go check out Auchmar Mansion as you’ve never seen it before!
