The Hamilton Store on James North has closed

Another sad James North closure has occurred, with the beloved Hamilton Store officially shutting its doors.
The Hamilton Store, which offered Hamilton-inspired gifts, souvenirs, home items, and products by local makers, was a James North mainstay for seven years with its popular storefront near the corner of James North and Cannon Street.
According to a recent post on Instagram by the Hamilton Store owner Donna Reid, the shop officially ceased operations as of this past weekend.
“My goal in this space, for 7 years, has been to celebrate Hamilton and encourage others to do so too,” says Reid in a heartfelt final note posted in the Hamilton Store’s front window.
Part of an ongoing shift on the James North strip, The Hamilton Store is joining a recent trend of neighbouring closures which include art shop LEN: democratic, Ventura’s Restaurant, Artword Artbar, and Zyla’s Music + Menu.
While the closure of the brick & mortar retail store is a major bummer, Reid and The Hamilton Store luckily have no plans of stopping. The notice posted in the storefront’s window expresses that the Hamilton Store will pick up operations again in an e-commerce format, with many products available to purchase online.
As for the opening of an actual storefront again, no formal announcements have been made either way. That said, Reid encourages Hamilton Store fans to follow the store’s continued journey into 2020 through their social media channels. Here’s hoping there’s a bright and fruitful future ahead for this #HamOnt favourite!
