Theodore Tugboat is moving from Halifax to Hamilton

Theodore Tugboat, an iconic children’s television figure and current fixture of Halifax, Nova Scotia, has found a new home and is about to make the journey all the way out here to Hamilton.

The life-sized replica of the original TV tugboat has been dubbed Theodore Too, and will be making his way to Hamilton this June under the new ownership of marine industrialist Blair McKeil.

Theodore will be put to work as an ambassador for the marine industry, promoting careers and raising awareness for marine work while touring various regions throughout Canada.

New owner Blair McKeil – who has ties to Nova Scotia and watched Theodore Tugboat with his sons as they grey up – sought to purchase Theodore Too when the boat was listed on the market for just shy of $500,000 last July. The replica was later sold to McKeil for an undisclosed amount.

While Nova Scotia will undoubtedly miss the iconic Theodore sitting dockside as a welcoming ambassador to Halifax, Hamilton is lucky to get this iconic television figure as a new local resident.

Theodore Tugboat’s popular television series ran for 8 seasons on CBC, beginning in 1993 and ending in 2001. The replica, Theodore Too, was built in 2000.
