This Hamilton restaurant is using GoFundMe to supply meals for frontline workers

With the realities and ramifications of the global COVID-19 pandemic becoming more sobering by the day, a Hamilton restaurant has started an amazing fundraising initiative in support of the people fighting this disease from the frontlines.
That restaurant is King’s Landing Restobar, and owner Jae Shim and his team have started a GoFundMe initiative raising the money to cover the costs preparing, packaging, and delivering fresh meals to Hamilton’s doctors, nurses, first responders, and other healthcare staff leading the tireless fight against the novel coronavirus.
“With the government’s shut-down of restaurants, we here at King’s Landing realize that there is still something we are able to do, to contribute & help, to show support towards our community,” says the team at King’s Landing.
“While our business remains closed, our kitchen is ready to prepare fresh homemade meals at discounted prices, & provide support for the many essential healthcare staff who are our front line of defense against this pandemic.”
How does it work? A donation of $10 covers the cost of preparing a meal for one of Hamilton’s frontline healthcare workers, with higher donations naturally covering more meals. Those meals will be delivered in groups of 10 directly to Hamilton’s hospitals and healthcare centres.
Donors can also make specific requests to deliver meals to particular hospitals and wards, if they’d like.
This amazing initiative has already been making the rounds, with nearly 30 donors raising over $1,000 so far, funding over 100 meals already for Hamilton’s healthcare heroes.
