The tugboat playground at Pier 4 Park is one of Hamilton’s most iconic play structures; and now, the city is preparing to give it a much-needed facelift and repair.
According to a notice from the City of Hamilton, the playground equipment and splash pad at Pier 4 Park are in disrepair and nearing their end of their lifespan, prompting the need for a refurbishment.
Construction of a new playground and splash pad will take place in 2024 and, in advance, the city is calling on locals to take part in a family-friendly online survey and weigh in on the new proposed designs.
The tugboat structure will remain but receive a refurbishment, and the surrounding playground equipment and splash pad will see a full replacement. The proposed redesign also includes a lookout patio area, parking for up to 12 bicycles, an ornamental garden, and an accessible entry for the tugboat.
Hamilton residents have until September 25th to complete the simple survey and can do so on the city website.
