VIDEO: Eugene Levy shouts out Hamilton at the SAG Awards

In a very funny bit during last night’s televised 26th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, Canadian actor and comedian Eugene Levy (Schitt’s Creek) was quick to acknowledge his roots as a born-and-raised Hamiltonian.

In the evening’s ‘I Am an Actor’ bit, the camera panned around a room loaded with Hollywood’s finest, stopping on actors like Christina Applegate and Cynthia Erivo so they could give succinct speeches about their origins in the entertainment industry.

But when the lens eventually landed on the famously funny Levy, things took a bit of a turn.

In an extended, rambling speech, Levy hilariously pulled himself on a number of reminiscing digressions and took up considerably more screen time than his counterparts. But a notable highlight of the bit was his initial shout-out to his hometown.

“I grew up in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, which was the, uh, Pittsburgh of the North,” Levy said, with the mention of Hamilton eliciting a notable round of cheers and whoops from the elite crowd.

The bit continued in funny fashion, ending with a pitch-perfect punchline featuring Tom Hanks.
