Weekend events in Hamilton June 2-3 2018

Looking for something to do this weekend? Look no further. We’ve found a wide range of events across the city for all ages and interests to enjoy.

Here’s what’s happening in Hamilton this weekend.

Saturday

A Day of Wonder – Yoga, Food & Art

Is yoga your absolute favourite activity? Join A Day of Wonder this Saturday for a yoga experience you’ll never forget. Over a five-hour period, participate in three yoga classes, listen to live music, and shop your fav holistic vendors. Bring your yoga mat, sunscreen, and water bottle to this beautiful, tranquil event.

A Day of Wonder takes place at Pier 4 Park between 9 am and 2 pm. Admission is free but registration is suggested.

Kitty-Paw-Looza

Calling all cat lovers! The Hamilton/Burlington SPCA is putting on Kitty-Paw-Looza, a fundraising event that celebrates all things feline. The event offers meow-mosas, vendors, learning stations with cat experts, and many more activities. VIP pass holders can even participate in yoga with kittens.

Kitty-Paw-Looza takes place from 10 am to 4 pm at 195 Dartnall Road, directly beside the shelter. Admission is free but VIP passes are available for purchase online.

Dundas International Buskerfest

Expect the unexpected at this year’s Dundas International Buskerfest. This free, family friendly event showcases world-renowned street performers and all of their unique talents. Watch aerialists fly high, mighty men lift great weights, and enjoy vaudevillian performances all day.

Buskerfest runs all weekend long, with Saturday hours being 11:30 am to 10 pm. Admission is free.

Barton Village Festival

Join in on the fun at this year’s Barton Village Festival. Spanning Barton Street East from Victoria Avenue North to Wentworth Street North, the street will be packed with various vendors, food trucks, and music stages.

The festival will run between 12 pm and 8 pm. Admission is free but be sure to bring your wallet to pick up some goodies!

Arts Week Opening Celebration

Kick off this year’s Hamilton Arts Week with an exciting evening at The Cotton Factory. The night’s festivities include a performance by The Spirit Bear Drummers, a night market, a Metric documentary screening, and many other fun experiences.

The celebration begins at 4 pm and goes until the late evening. Admission is free.

Sunday

2018 Walk for Arthritis

Arthritis is something that affects over six million Canadians. This Sunday, let’s get moving for the Walk for Arthritis. Since its inception, the organization has raised over $10 million. The Arthritis Society needs funding to keep researching to provide innovative solutions to those living with this devastating disease.

The walk begins at Coach House at Dundurn Castle at 10 am, ending at 3 pm. Participation is free, but it is recommended to donate toward the cause.

Peace4Hamilton

Come together for an afternoon of fun and education for Peace4Hamilton. The event will feature live music and special appearances by local artists and football associations. As a community, let’s learn how to stay safe and violence free.

Peace4Hamilton takes place at Woodlands Park, beginning at 11 am and finishing at 6 pm. Admission is free.

Dundas International Buskerfest

High Tea & Fashion Show

Love tea and fashion? Join Church of the Resurrection at their parish for high tea and an afternoon fashion show. There will also be door prizes to be won, along with an on-going silent auction.

The event takes place at Church of the Resurrection, going from 2 pm to 5 pm. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased through the parish office or calling 905-389-1942.

Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra in the Garden

Experience the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra (HPO) in a new way this summer. Attend a whimsical garden party that offers patrons a relaxing afternoon, enjoying a captivating view of Lake Ontario and the sounds of HPO. Performances by HPO ensembles will take place throughout the afternoon, interwoven through the various corners of the property.

The event takes place between 2 pm and 5pm at a private estate in Stoney Creek. Once tickets are purchased, the address will be revealed. Attire is garden chic; hats and flats are encouraged.

Tickets for this charity event are $150 and are available online.
