Burlington’s Sound of Music Festival and Live on the Lake are both cancelled

The famous Burlington music festival Sound of Music and its kick-off event Live on the Lake have both been cancelled due to the current risks and spread of the coronavirus.

It was announced yesterday by the event organizers that it was with great disappointment they cancel the 2020 edition of the festival. For over 40 years, Sound of Music has brought together the local community to celebrate music, arts, and culture.

“It is important that we do our part to help contain the spread of COVID-19. The health and safety of our community, volunteers, artists, and partners has been the driving force in this difficult decision,” said the festival Executive Director Myles D. Rusak in a statement.

Burlington’s Mayor Marianne Meed Ward also commented on the decision to cancel the festival, saying she wholeheartedly supports the actions made to put the health and safety of the community first.

Sum 41 and Third Eye Blind were the two headlining acts already announced for Live on the Lake. More performers were set to be announced in the coming weeks.

Information regarding ticket deferrals and refunds will be released on the Sound of Music website and social media channels. There will also be information about how the community can continue to support the festival during these uncertain times.
