Someone has stolen the pride flag from outside of Emerald Coffee Co.

An unknown thief has stolen the pride flag hanging from the façade of Hamilton’s Emerald Coffee Co.

Emerald Coffee Co., a cozy and chic café nestled in downtown’s burgeoning Barton Village, has just celebrated its second anniversary of hooking Hamiltonians up with their daily caffeine fix on top of being an inclusive community hub.

However, like most other local businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, Emerald has temporarily shut its doors from the public for the foreseeable future.

That fact didn’t stop the nasty actions of this mystery thief, who ignored the current COVID-19 messages of compassion and community support and still snatched the prominently-displayed pride flag from Emerald’s storefront last week.

“If anyone is wondering where my pride flag went, I’m as confused as you are,” shared Emerald Coffee’s ownership in an Instagram post.

Then, in true Hamilton fashion, an outpouring of community support and solidarity flooded the comments; including messages from other neighbouring businesses in the Barton Village.

“Omg. Awful!! We’ll have to get you a new one,” commented Hello Baked, a popular small batch sweet shop located next door.

Anyone with any information regarding the stolen flag is encouraged to reach out to Emerald Coffee Co via their social media.
