16. Jeff Paikin: President, New Horizon Homes

Hamilton born and raised, Jeff Paikin’s passion for city building is only exceeded by his love for his family. As President of New Horizon homes, he has provided quality, thoughtfully designed housing from Oakville to Stoney Creek. Downtown based at 69 John St since 1995, Jeff and his organization have had a tremendous impact in our community.

Named citizen of the year in 2013 by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, his philanthropic endeavours include the Child- rens Aid Society, Hamilton and Burlington Community Foundations, City Kidz, Hamilton Heath Sciences Foundation, Mohawk College and the YMCA. His support is so wide reaching it’s far easier to name organizations he’s not involved with or events he doesn’t attend. As a side note, he’s also a great ticket guy, if you need tickets to any event in town, he’s your guy.

In 2011, with phase I of City Square, New Horizon Homes took a risk and became one of the early movers supporting the resur- gence of lower city development. Today, combined with phase II, the development has added much needed density and hun- dreds of new households to our downtown core. Approachable and gracious, I am proud to call Jeff my friend and coach.
