Award-winning author Lawrence Hill is giving a talk in Hamilton

If you love Canadian literature, you’ve probably heard of Lawrence Hill.

The acclaimed author of award-winning titles such as The Book of Negroes and The Illegal, Lawrence Hill is also a member of the Order of Canada, a Governor General’s History Award recipient, and holds honorary doctorates from six Canadian universities. On top of that, you can sometimes spot Hill hanging out here in Hamilton because, well, he lives here.

If you haven’t been lucky enough to bump into him around town, your chance is coming: Lawrence Hill will be giving a lecture titled Faction: Merging History and Fiction in The Book of Negroes and The Illegal, presented by Griffin House National Historic Site.

The lecture, which includes a book signing with Hill, takes place at the Ancaster Old Town Hall on Wednesday, October 9th at 7pm. Fiction fans will surely find plenty of fascinating facts in Hill’s lecture, which promises a dive into the process of honouring historical fact and influence in the context of narrative fiction writing.

If you’re curious to get a peek into the creative mind and process of one of Canada’s leading authors, this is your chance.

More information and advance tickets for An Evening with Lawrence Hill can be found on the City of Hamilton website.
