As a result of the action, Ontario schools will remain closed for a three-week stretch from March 14th to April 5th, 2020 in a preventative effort to aid in halting the possible spread of the novel coronavirus in the province.
“We recognize the significant impact this decision will have on families, students, schools, as well as the broader community, but this precaution is necessary to keep people safe,” reads a statement from the Ontario government.
As of Wednesday, March 12th, there are 59 total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ontario.
