Hamilton music lovers won’t want to miss an acclaimed a cappella quartet as they bring their lively, wildly entertaining show to the city for the very first time.
Quebec-based singers QW4RTZ blend classically-trained vocals with energetic pop music, beat-boxing, and other voice-bending flourishes in their 90-minute show A Cappella Héros, which takes place at the McIntyre Theatre at Mohawk College on Saturday, October 14th at 8 pm.
It’s one stop on their 2023 Canadian tour, which also sees the group hitting the stage in cities like Laval, Ottawa, Timmins, Montreal, Sherbrooke, and many others over the coming months.
QW4RTZ regularly sells out venues in Quebec and beyond, their polished and playful vocals bringing a full sound and fresh life to familiar hits in the pop, rock, and hip-hop genres. Covers of songs like Can’t Buy Me Love by The Beatles, Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley, and Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen have amassed tens of thousands of views on YouTube.
The group was also a popular competitor on France’s Got Talent, making it past numerous rounds of judging and audience voting and landing themselves in the semi-finals, continuing to impress audiences across the country both with their skilled musicianship and their endearingly silly physical comedy.
All of what made the group such favourites on France’s Got Talent will be on full display at their Hamilton concert, which is being supported by Centre Francophone Hamilton: an organization bringing vibrant French-language arts & culture, entertainment, and events to the city.
However, don’t expect QW4RTZ’s concert to be suitable for French speakers only; Centre Francophone emphasizes that the show features plenty of elements to enjoy even for those who don’t speak French at all, including covers of English-language hit songs in the mix.
“There are not that many popular a cappella groups and this one is selling out venues in Quebec right now,” says Popina Muanga, Centre Francophone Hamilton’s artistic and community projects manager.
“We’re happy to bring this top-quality show to the region… to bring the best of what’s going on in Quebec and make it available to local audiences. It saves having to travel so far and opens up new perspectives for artists and audiences too. Also, it’s a show that everyone can enjoy and that’s designed to please all kinds of audiences and all ages.”
This one-night-only event has all the makings of a memorable one, and Hamilton audiences are sure to fall in love with QWRTZ as they hit a local stage for the very first time.
QWRTZ: A Capella Héros takes the stage in the McIntyre Performing Arts Centre at Mohawk College (135 Fennell Avenue West) on Saturday, October 14th at 8 pm. For more information and tickets, visit their website.
