Hamilton bakery Cake and Loaf is closing this fall

“Saying goodbye is difficult,” reads a note posted to social media by Hamilton bakery Cake and Loaf this past weekend.

The beloved bakeshop has been pumping out all sorts of indulgent treats, both sweet and savoury, since they first launched in 2011; and now, Cake and Loaf has set its official final bake day for Sunday, October 8th.

The news comes shortly after Cake and Loaf announced its plans to turn the business over to new ownership, listing it for sale in hopes of passing the reins to leaders who plan to continue nurturing Cake and Loaf’s local reputation.

As of this moment, the bakery is still listed with Jeannie Crawford, broker at Coldwell Banker Community Professionals; and there’s still time for someone to jump in and preserve this Hamilton staple.

“As we close this version of C+L, we are now opening the sale up to the passionate folks and culinary dreamers that are seeking their own piece of the pie!” reads the message on Cake and Loaf’s Instagram.

“The fully equipped building is ready for its next chapter – so if you have a dream and it involves delicious food and you’re looking for somewhere to plant roots – come on over and check out this awesome space.”

In the meantime, Cake and Loaf will be baking seasonal treats and old favourites – like the coveted Cream Egg Brownie – in the days and weeks to come leading up to their final day on October 8th.
