Hamilton band Arkells drops beautiful new album

It’s a great day for local music lovers as Hamilton rockers Arkells drop their latest studio album.

The new record is titled Laundry Pile, and it’s an effort that offers a refreshing change of pace for the multi-award-winning band. On this record, the gang trades rock ‘n roll bombast for something a little slower, quieter, and more contemplative.

Out on all streaming platforms as well as vinyl, Laundry Pile consists of 10 new tunes that lean largely into gentler instrumentation that put frontman Max Kerman’s lovely lyrics from and centre.

“A brand-new album was not in the works for Arkells,” wrote the band on their website.

“Having been steadily releasing new music over the last few years, we weren’t actively planning the next record to come this quickly. What became Laundry Pile caught us by surprise and began to take shape.”

It seems like Arkells fans will be deeply rewarded with Laundry Pile as an album that offers up something a little unexpected from this treasured Hamilton band.

“It was one of the most deeply creative experiences we’ve had as a band so far. It’s important to simply honour the moment you’re in, and that’s what we did.”

Laundry Pile, the latest studio album by Arkells, is available now wherever music is sold.
