On Monday, Ontario premier Doug Ford announced a state of emergency for the province, which resulted in the closure of some non-essential stores and public spaces.
Along with the announcement came the recommendation to stay home and practice social distancing during the spread of coronavirus.
Many staff on the frontline fighting the virus have been working around the clock due to the rapid spread of COVID-19. This week has even seen 3,000 retired nurses return to work reported by the The Registered Nurses Association of Ontario.
There are currently 19 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Hamilton, with the newest case being a woman at a long-term care facility in Stoney Creek.
