Stay hydrated and dress lightly, because Hamilton is under heat warning beginning Thursday and lasting into Friday.
According to a heat advisory from Environment Canada, Hamilton is expected to hit temperature highs around 30 degrees Celsius through the day on Thursday and Friday, with lows sitting only around the 18 to 20-degree mark in the evenings, providing little relief.
“Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index approaching the high risk category,” reads the advisory from Environment Canada.
Locals are encouraged to take care by drinking plenty of water, and staying in a cool and dry place whenever possible. Risks are greater for young children, pregnant people, older adults, those with chronic illness, and people working or exercising outdoors.
Thankfully, the hefty heat is expected to taper off over the weekend, with highs in the low 20s forecast for Saturday and Sunday.
