As the province ended its Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) Distribution program on June 30th, the City of Hamilton and Hamilton Public Health are launching a local program to distribute COVID-19 testing kits.
The new local program, which kicked off on July 4th, sees RAT kits available for pickup to all members of the public who may be experiencing potential symptoms of COVID-19.
The kits are available free of charge through a variety of locations across the city including community centres and recreation centres in the lower city and on the Hamilton Mountain as well as Ancaster, Binbrook, Flamborough, Stoney Creek, and Winona.
A full list of locations carrying RAT kits is available on the city website, with locals advised that the kits will only be able for pickup during each location’s own operating hours.
Rapid Antigen Tests are a reliable means of confirming whether or not an individual is infected with COVID-19. Those who test positive are advised to self-isolate. Hamilton Public Health also reminds individuals that a negative result does not necessarily mean you don’t have COVID-19, and are advised to follow public health guidelines such as self-isolating and wearing an N95 mask in public.
