Hamilton mainstay for Scottish and British foods closing after over 50 years

A Hamilton mainstay specializing in British and Scottish foods will be closing after more than a half-century in business.

Opies Quality Meats will be saying goodbye to its well-loved storefront at 612 Concession Street on the Hamilton Mountain, with a closing date set for December 23rd.

One of Concession Streets longest standing small businesses, the shop has endured as a popular provider of British and Scottish foods, from sausage rolls to steak pies to black pudding and, of course, their famous haggis.

Multiple generations of Hamiltonians have enjoyed the foods at Opies Meats, which still holds a loyal customer base today.

However, all good things come to an end, and Opies Meats ownership will be seeing a well-earned retirement after wrapping up business at the end of this year.

In the meantime, locals are hustling over to get their final tastes of their Opies favourites, and the shop is taking orders from wholesalers and regular customers alike before the official closure.

Visit Opies Meats at 612 Concession Street before December 23rd to get your last fix and say goodbye!
