Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra announces 2023-2024 season

Hamilton’s premiere institution for the performance of classical music has just announced an exciting 2023-2024 season.

The acclaimed Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra will be bringing its typical virtuosic talents to the stage at FirstOntario Concert Hall once again for a packed season; one which will also mark the final season for music director Gemma New, who has been with the HPO since 2015.

New will kick off the season this coming fall with Gemma Conducts Schumann & Mendelssohn on September 23rd, followed up by a concert of Britten, Vaughan Williams & Elgar on October 21st.

Canadian violinist Kerson Leong will take the stage with the HPO for Sibelius & Dvorak on November 11th before a holiday season pairing of Holidays & The Hockey Sweater on December 9 and Handel’s Messiah on December 16th and 17th.

The new year kicks off with quite the bang as The Music of Queen hits the FirstOntario Concert Hall stage on January 20th, followed by an evening of Barber, Raum & Copland on March 23rd and a concert of Rachmaninoff & Tchaikovsky on April 20th.

The HPO’s popular Intimate & Immersive concert series also returns this season with a stimulating, interactive evening of contemporary music showcased at the Cotton Factory on May 1st. Then, the season closes on May 4th with Gemma New conducting Beethoven 9 as her farewell to the HPO.
