Hamilton restaurant for African food closes its doors

A unique spot for flavourful African cuisines has closed its doors in Hamilton following an eviction.

Afrolicious Restaurant sported an eye-catchingly large space at 46 James Street North, where it served up a hefty menu of traditional and fusion dishes like burgers, family-sized platters, wraps, salads, and so much more.

Though locals who tried the place out readily fell in love with Afrolicious’ standout food, the restaurant has suddenly closed due to a termination in tenancy by their building’s landlord.

According to a landlord’s termination notice posted outside of Afrolicious on March 21st, the restaurant – which first opened in late 2021 – owes $63,737.48 in arrears.

Still, its unclear if this truly means the end of Afrolicious: though the restaurant was given 5 days to vacate the James North space, a Google search shows that Afrolicious is merely listed as “temporarily closed.”

Went once. Way too expensive! Small portions. Waste of money
