Hamilton theatre company stages outdoor play at Dundurn Castle

A professional Hamilton theatre company is currently presenting a classic play in a unique setting.

Tottering Biped Theatre has staged a new production of The Tempest by William Shakespeare, presented outdoors on the grounds of the historic Dundurn Castle at 610 York Boulevard.

It’s part of the company’s popular annual Shakespeare by Nature series, where they present a unique take on the iconic playwright’s work in an outdoor venue during the summer.

Directed by Diana Belshaw and featuring a cast of emerging and established performers from the Hamilton area, The Tempest promises a new spin on Shakespeare’s final play: an “epic tale of shipwrecks, magic, betrayal, music, colonialism, revenge, and family.”

Locals who wish to attend can simply show up to Dundurn Castle before 7 pm on August 23rd, 24th, and 25th as well as all evenings from Monday, August 28th to Saturday, September 2nd. All shows are weather permitting.

Tickets are pay-what-you-can, with cash, debit, and credit accepted. The show begins promptly at 7 pm, so attendees are encouraged to show up with their blankets and lawn chairs at least 30 minutes early to grab a spot!
