Though the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown has left Hamiltonians with little to do in the way of activities, outdoor recreation such as hiking or other exercise is still thankfully permitted.
As a result, the City of Hamilton is offering locals the chance to rent snowshoeing equipment and snowshoe across one of the city’s green spaces, with COVID-19 safety measures in place.
A great way to break up the monotony of a standard hike or outdoor stroll, locals can rent out snowshoes directly from the city and will be granted a three-hour window in which to explore the vast King’s Forest Golf Course.
Outdoor activities are good for your physical & mental health – get some fresh air and enjoy SNOWSHOEING at King’s Forest Golf Course, COVID-19 safety measures are in effect. The city offers numerous snowshoe sizes, which vary based on the weight of the wearer and can be returned promptly after your adventure is finished. Hamiltonians can book their time slot for snowshoe rental in advance via the city website.
Heads up, though: this program, naturally, only functions when there’s a decent amount of snow accumulation. The city specifies that the program can only run with a minimum 6 centimetres of snow on the ground, so make sure to plan accordingly.
This is just one of the many ways the City of Hamilton is working to make this winter fun with a whole host of safe recreational adventures, particularly during a time when activities are much more limited than usual.
