Home of the Makers has closed on James North

The ever-transforming James North strip has lost another well-loved local shop, as Home of the Makers appears to have closed its doors.

A retail shop at 294 James Street North dedicated to giving Hamilton’s artists, artisans, and entrepreneurs a brick & mortar platform to sell their products, Home of the Makers was known for selling body products, home décor, artwork, clothing, accessories, and so much more; all of it proudly and distinctly made right here in #HamOnt.

While a ‘For Rent’ sign sits in the darkened storefront window, the circumstances surrounding the closure are currently unknown.

No formal posts or announcements have been made on any of the Home of the Makers social media accounts, and it’s currently unclear if the shop is seeing a permanent closure, or simply setting its sights on different digs within the city.

After all, Home of the Makers had previously taken up residence in more than one James North storefront; the store moved a few doors down from its original location to upgrade to a larger space less than a year ago.

As of this article’s publication, the owners of Home of the Makers have not yet responded to a request for comment. That said, here’s hoping the shop isn’t gone for good, and that Home of the Makers will continue to be Hamilton’s one-stop shop for locally-made awesomeness!
