Over 8,000 tickets have already been sold for the Forge FC home leg of the CPL finals

Soccer fever has struck Hamilton with over 8,000 tickets already sold for the first leg of the Canadian Premier League finals in Hamilton on Saturday. As of Wednesday night, ticket sales have skyrocketed since Forge FC booked themselves in the inaugural CPL finals against Calgary’s Cavalry FC.

It looks like the CPL configuration capacity of 9,000 at Tim Hortons Field will be easily reached before the 4 pm kick-off. The previous high in ticket sales for a Forge FC game was 7,152 on June 15th against Valour FC.
Forge FC did attract more that 17,000 fans for the inaugural CPL match against York 9 back in April. However, free tickets were given out to the community as an initiative to get the city behind Hamilton’s newest professional sports franchise.
The match on Saturday is reaching sell out numbers with paid admission and was not covered by season ticket packages. Tickets are still available for Forge’s final home game of 2019.
Excitement for the two-legged final against first-place Cavalry FC and second-place Forge FC has continued to grow. Forge captain Kyle Bekker has penned an open letter to fans this week in the build up to the team’s biggest game so far.

Bekker thanked the fans for their consistent support during a long season of ups and downs.
“You played a crucial part in our ability as a community to bring professional soccer to the city of Hamilton,” said Bekker to the fans. “When the rumours of our pipe dream began to make their way across the city and the country, you jumped at the opportunity to come out and you carried the dream over the line.”
As anticipation continues to grow for the match on Saturday, Forge FC is preparing their squad in order to bring the championship to Hamilton.
The first game of the inaugural CPL finals between Forge and Cavalry will be played at Tim Hortons Field on Saturday and the second game will be played a week later in Calgary.
