A wonderful and important charity initiative in Hamilton has set up a new community pantry at another location in the city.
Period Pop-Ups, which was founded this year by McMaster University students Rita Audi and Meghna Varambally, endeavours to help eliminate the financial burdens of accessing menstrual products for those who need them by setting up outdoor pantries with pads, tampons, and other related products to be provided for free to people who menstruate.
When Covid-19 hit, Rita Audi & Meghna Varambally knew they wanted to do something to help the community.
A year later, their idea – an outdoor, accessible pantry offering free menstrual products – is expanding across Hamilton & North America. Read more: https://t.co/LVJ9FOUsFk pic.twitter.com/nktvJMvovM

After setting up numerous other successful pantries around the city, Period Pop-Ups has now partnered with Redchurch Café in Gore Park to open a brand new pantry in the heart of the downtown core.
The pantry is set up outside of Redchurch’s storefront at 68 King Street East and will be available 24/7 to be accessed by Hamiltonians who need menstrual products.
Locals who are able to donate products are also welcomed and encouraged to leave them in the pantry to be accessed by others.
Other Period Pop-Ups pantries are available for 24/7 access outside of Sleepy Bones Tattoo at 477 King Street East, and at YWCA Hamilton at 75 MacNab Street South.
