Sherman Access reopens tonight

Hamilton commuters rejoice! The Sherman Access and Sherman Cut will officially reopen tonight at 5 pm.

Each leg of the Access was closed earlier this summer for some much needed repair work.

The east leg’s repairs were completed on schedule, receiving new drapery mesh that will protect drivers from falling rocks. Repair work began July 23.

The west leg was closed to complete the installation of retaining walls that began last summer. The installation was completed ahead of schedule; the west leg of the access was supposed to be closed until September 21.

Mountain access closures are always an inconvenience but they’re done with citizen safety in mind. Here’s to having the Sherman Access back up and running in time for the long weekend.
