Here’s what’s happening in the city this weekend.

Christmas in Silver

When: Friday November 29th, 2019 at 2:30 pm
Where: Scottish Rite Cathedral
Admission: Prices vary. Buy tickets here.

Three-time North American Brass Band Champions Weston Silver Band perform a program of holiday favourites and sing-a-long carols, all in the magnificent setting of Hamilton’s Scottish Rite Cathedral. Kick off the holiday season with this musical celebration of the spirit of Christmas.

Concession Christmas Mountain Lights

When: Friday November 29th, 2019 from 5:30 pm – 7 pm
Where: Sam Lawrence Park
Admission:  Free

Join Concession BIA as they light up the pavilion at Sam Lawrence Park in the spirit of the holidays. Free candy canes, Christmas music, food truck and warm hot chocolate await you as Councillor Esther Pauls lights up the mountain brow with some holiday sparkle! They ask that you bring an unwrapped toy in support of the Mountain Kidz Klub!

Quantopia

When: Friday November 29th, 2019 from 7 pm – 9 pm
Where: McMaster University
Admission: Free. Register here.

QUANTOPIA is the opening performance of The Reception, a two-day conference showcasing performances and exhibitions by artists from black, Indigenous, and racialized communities. A celebration of the history of the Internet, QUANTOPIA is a tribute to the depth and high stakes of free speech and creative expression involved in our daily use of media.

Gary Santucci’s Spanjazz!

When: Friday November 29th, 2019 from 8 pm – 10 pm
Where: The Pearl Company Arts Centre
Admission: $20

A collection of musical compositions inspired by world music rhythms, performed in a jazz context by a 6-piece world-beat jazz ensemble.

Community Grand Street Re-Opening Celebration

When: Saturday November 30th, 2019 from 11 am – 4 pm
Where: Locke St. S
Admission: Free

The community is invited to attend to join in the Grand Street Re-Opening Celebration. There will be lots of fun things happening on the street between 11 am – 4 pm including swag bag giveaways to the first 300 participants!

A Zander Collection & Runway

When: Saturday November 30th, 2019 from 7 pm – 10 pm
Where: Tropical House at Gage Park
Admission: $10. Buy tickets here.

Zander, a growing Hamilton fashion label, will be debuting its never before seen “Greenhouse” collection & runway show at the Tropical Greenhouse at Gage Park in Hamilton.

Free Petting Zoo at the Market

When: Sunday December 1st, 2019 from 11 am – 1 pm
Where: Hamilton Farmers’ Market
Admission: Free

Bring the whole family out to the Hamilton Farmers’ Market for a fun day of shopping, and friendly farm animals! Educate the whole family about farm animals and even get the opportunity to feed some of the animals with Little Tracks Petting Zoo. Some of the barnyard animals you’ll get to meet include a young baby sheep & the parents, goats, chickens, rabbits, and more.

100 Hikers 100 Hikes Speaker Event

When: Sunday December 1st, 2019 from 2 pm – 4 pm
Where: Dundas Museum and Archives
Admission: Free. Register here.

Join author & engaging speaker Andrew Camani as he shares stories of his adventures hiking the Bruce Trail. He’ll also talk about gathering other peoples tales of their hiking trips for his book “100 Hikers, 100 Hikes” which will be available for sale for $25. Light refreshments and door prizes.
