A Dundas takeaway spot for standout Japanese cuisine has closed its doors.
Hanma Japanese Foods readily found popularity among locals when it opened at 105 King Street West on the Downtown Dundas Strip back in 2022.
A collaboration between Takayoshi Li and Yoshiyuki Aiba – the latter of whom is the chef behind Hamilton’s popular new ramen restaurant Menya Kyu – Hanma specialized in high quality sushi, nigiri, rice bowls, and beyond.
However, after two great years serving the Dundas community, Hanma has decided to close up shop and pass their storefront on to another small business.
“It’s a bittersweet time for us as we are so proud of what [Hanma] has become, and we were hoping to see the restaurant continue on, but at this time, Hanma Japanese Foods will now be permanently closed,” wrote Hanma on social media.
It won’t be long before the storefront is filled again: plans are underway for Norfolk Juice Co. – a Port Dover juice and smoothie bar – to open a new location in Dundas within Hanma’s former space.
Updates will be provided as they come!
