Large coyote spotted in Hamilton’s North End

It appears that a large coyote could be finding a new home in the city. Local Reddit user bingo1086 posted a photo to the site of a large coyote walking across a grassy field in the North End of Hamilton yesterday morning.

Coyote in the North End this Morning from Hamilton

The posting comes within a few days of a large coyote photographed through the front window of a home in Westdale.

Users have posted comments on the latest photo, speculating as to whether or not it was the same coyote in both sightings.

“That’s the same coyote from the Westdale picture,” commented Redditor ACrusaderA.

“The bald patch between the shoulder looks similar, both appear to be above average in size, the only difference is the colour but we are also seeing them from different sides at different light levels.”

Other users agreed with ACrusaderA, citing the coyote’s bald patch as a giveaway to it being the same animal.

Redditors have also commented about other sightings and have heard other coyotes in the Hamilton area. One user said that they heard a pack of coyotes going wild in the Park Street North area.

It’s fair to say that coyotes can be found all over the city as they become more comfortable in an urban setting. The winter months, when food is scarce, particularly tend to bring them out onto the streets.

Remember that if you have an encounter with a coyote to keep your distance and let the animal move on.
