Hamilton’s Allure Fitness celebrates 15 years of building confidence and community

Let’s be real: exercise is important and rewarding, but it’s not always fun. Sometimes, the push to get off the couch and onto the treadmill can feel nearly insurmountable.

Allure Fitness, one of Hamilton’s premier fitness studios, is the ideal antidote. A local gem founded by Michelle Kriedemann and celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, the focus is on fitness that’s empowering, communal, creative, exploratory, and – yes – fun.

The femme-focused studio favours classes rather than individual exercise, to help members hold themselves accountable to their fitness goals and to foster a safe, inclusive environment where participants cheer each other on as they explore disciplines like pole dancing, suspension yoga, aerial hoop, and burlesque.

“They’re all modalities that offer the chance to move your body in a different way than how we do all day long,” explains Kriedemann.

“At Allure, people have the choice to take their fitness journey in whatever avenue interests them the most. Whether it’s more athletic, more fitness focused, or more sensual and sexy, the options are endless; and they’re all refreshing for our clients who come in from their regular life every day doing regular people things and regular people workouts.”

Allure’s classes are a far cry from spending solo time on the elliptical at the gym. Whether it’s total beginners or a more advanced group doing a pole class or aerial hoop, they’re all about building a positive, low-pressure environment to try new skills, push abilities in exciting new directions, and feel confident and uplifted in the process.

Meeting a major 15-year milestone, the studio is celebrating in style with plans to host an Anniversary Showcase this fall where the Allure community will get to perform and celebrate their hard work and successes.

According to Kriedemann, one of her favourite parts about Allure after so many years is seeing the lasting relationships that carry forth beyond the studio walls.

“Most people start coming to classes here on their own or maybe with a friend or two, but you build lasting friendships and multiple workout buddies that you’ve met and grown with over your time in class,” she says. “Having a whole class of people excited for you and cheering you on as you accomplish new moves, tough ones you’ve been working on, is so awesome to see and hear.”

With that, it’s not hard to see why Allure Fitness has held strong in Hamilton for 15 years and, surely, many more to come.
