When one door closes, another opens.
Recently, after less than half a year in business, gastropub The Lockesmith – housed in the previous home of Brux House on Locke Street – announced that it would be closing up operations.
However – after a tease that “something exciting is coming soon” on social media last week – it seems the 137 Locke Street South restaurant space is going to be quickly revived with a decidedly different theme and concept.
The new restaurant, which appears to be by the same team as The Lockesmith, is called Whoa Nelly; it promises a focus on hearty Southern-style eats.
Firm details of the new venture are still to come, but it seems locals can expect Southern BBQ favourites on the menu: think brisket, fried chicken, pulled pork, and a wide array of comforting sides.
Hamilton isn’t exactly lacking for Southern-style joints, and we’re excited to see what fresh elements Whoa Nelly brings to the table!
